A psychological therapist from Hong Kong was crowned Miss Global 2018-19 during the finals held February 11 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater of Resorts World Manila.

Sophia Ng edged out more than 40 candidates for the title. She receieved the crown from outgoing queen Barbara Vitorelli.

“I would use the Miss Global platform to further what I am doing. I am a psychologist and I am really passionate about removing the stigma from mental health,” Ng said during the final Q&A round.

“In Hong Kong, I am all about educating the masses, talking about my experience as a therapist, my experience as having had depression, and sharing and inspiring others to tell them that it is not okay not to be okay but also to offer them solutions is something that I would continually do.”

Amber Bernachi of Canada finished first runner-up, while Tamila Khodjaeva of Uzbekistan placed second runner-up. Seydina Allen of Haiti and Pamela Lee Urbina of the United States were third and fourth runners-up, respectively. Missosology.Org
