As correctly predicted by Missosology, Richard Ricardo Carter of Thailand was crowned Mr Universe Tourism 2017 at the conclusion of the inaugural pageant held Sunday, October 15, at the Palacio de Maynila in Manila, Philippines.
Canada’s Kris Martin placed first runner-up, while pageant veteran Jin Stewart of Korea finished second runner-up.
The rest of the 10 semifinalists were Ritesh Shetty (Mumbai, India), Landjeet Karam (Manipur, India), Philip Km (Myanmar), Atif Nazir (Pakistan), John Jayarr Agustin (Philippines), Ahmed Hassan (Sudan), and Vu Linh (Vietnam).
The two Philippine representatives bagged special awards. Agustin (Philippines) won Best in Swimwear while CJ Querol (Republic of the Philippines) won Best in Formal Wear. Meanwhile, the Best in National Costume award went to Thu Rein Htun of Yangon, Myanmar.
