Taylor Swift was right. Haters gonna hate. It is an open secret that many people are happy to see Miss USA and Miss Universe plunge into their demise. Their reasons are varied. Some were really offended by Donald Trump’s racist statement while some are avid fans of rival pageants whose dedication is akin to cult followers. Whatever their reasons are, they are happy as Miss USA and Miss Universe came under attack from various organizations.

The new Miss USA Olivia Jordan of Oklahoma has an answer to all the haters. She said that the Miss USA organization is a family and is not just about one individual. Indeed, why punish the hardworking girls for some stupid comments by Donald Trump?

Miss USA survived all the haters. It managed to get a last minute deal with a cable TV station, recalled its past winners to sit as judges and crowned a worthy winner who is not only beautiful but intelligent as well. It successfully showed to its haters that it is still the best and the most followed national pageant in the United States. Why, even the winner of Miss World America reportedly attended the finals night!

What is remarkable with Miss USA in these times of crisis is that it held on to its beliefs and principles. It did not crown a Latina beauty, which some haters suggested it should do just to appease those who were offended by Donald Trump’s racists’ remarks. Instead, it chose the best regardless of what is her ethnicity.

Unfortunately for the haters, Miss USA and Miss Universe will come out stronger and better after the crisis. Donald Trump was visibly absent during the finals. This is of course an expected development. Trump will now disassociate himself from the two pageants and Paula Shugart will take the helm. No more Trump choices – good news for all nations competing at Miss Universe!

Miss Universe and Miss USA both achieved their new milestone. Expect profound changes in the results and formats of the two pageants. Paula Shugart will no longer be bound to the commercial demands of Donald Trump and with her expertise and experience, she will bring the kind of Miss Universe that all of us love so dearly. Better still; both pageants will get a new owner. That would surely be the best scenario.

The crisis that beset the Miss USA and Miss Universe pageant not only revealed the true colors of its haters but it also brought the best out of both pageants. With all the hate, all the attacks, all the boycotts, Miss USA and Miss Universe stood strong. Former winners pitched in. Reelz came in to the rescue. True fans never wavered. True, haters gonna hate but what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.
