Taylor Swift was right. Haters gonna hate. It is an open secret that many people are happy to see Miss USA and Miss Universe plunge into their demise. Their reasons are varied. Some were really offended by Donald Trump’s racist statement while some are avid fans of rival pageants whose dedication is akin to cult followers. Whatever their reasons are, they are happy as Miss USA and Miss Universe came under attack from various organizations.
The new Miss USA Olivia Jordan of Oklahoma has an answer to all the haters. She said that the Miss USA organization is a family and is not just about one individual. Indeed, why punish the hardworking girls for some stupid comments by Donald Trump?
Miss USA survived all the haters. It managed to get a last minute deal with a cable TV station, recalled its past winners to sit as judges and crowned a worthy winner who is not only beautiful but intelligent as well. It successfully showed to its haters that it is still the best and the most followed national pageant in the United States. Why, even the winner of Miss World America reportedly attended the finals night!
What is remarkable with Miss USA in these times of crisis is that it held on to its beliefs and principles. It did not crown a Latina beauty, which some haters suggested it should do just to appease those who were offended by Donald Trump’s racists’ remarks. Instead, it chose the best regardless of what is her ethnicity.
Unfortunately for the haters, Miss USA and Miss Universe will come out stronger and better after the crisis. Donald Trump was visibly absent during the finals. This is of course an expected development. Trump will now disassociate himself from the two pageants and Paula Shugart will take the helm. No more Trump choices – good news for all nations competing at Miss Universe!
Miss Universe and Miss USA both achieved their new milestone. Expect profound changes in the results and formats of the two pageants. Paula Shugart will no longer be bound to the commercial demands of Donald Trump and with her expertise and experience, she will bring the kind of Miss Universe that all of us love so dearly. Better still; both pageants will get a new owner. That would surely be the best scenario.
The crisis that beset the Miss USA and Miss Universe pageant not only revealed the true colors of its haters but it also brought the best out of both pageants. With all the hate, all the attacks, all the boycotts, Miss USA and Miss Universe stood strong. Former winners pitched in. Reelz came in to the rescue. True fans never wavered. True, haters gonna hate but what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.
I disagree with the article, according to Nielsen, the rating of Miss USA 2015 was very poor, the lowest in all history, less than 1 million viewers watch the pagent, while in other years the rating was over 10 million watchers, I don’t see any future in this pagent until Trump quits or until he apologized to Mexico because he offended a whole nation and all Latin America, from Mexico to Chile and Argentina. Trump has been more quite becaue El Chapo twit him a warning message, so Trump is afraid now
less then one million watched it on TV- the majority of people watched it online.
because seriously– who even has Reelz in their cable package?
REELZ is part of my basic directtv package & my neighbors AT&T U verse cable package. It’s also part of dish network’s basic package. I just checked.
There were previously over 80 million viewers when NBC covered miss USA & miss universe. That has been the average for both for 12 years.
REELZ channel only reaches 40 million homes. The miss USA rating was their highest for REELZ @ 22 million. Thy added over ten million new subscribers once miss USA was announced it was to carry miss USA. I don’t know where you get your info, but Nielsen has it as 22 million world wide.
I would not wait for trump to ever apologize. He never will. Paula shuggart will take control & have fair pageants, along with more sponsorship. Sponsors will be there, as it is the #1 show in the world when held on Sunday’s.
So, I hope those boycotting don’t hurt their future chances, as I’m sure they will be on a probationary period. The show will go on without them.
i apologize. I did a search & read a article written before the pageant about REELZ viewership & hopes for he pageant. Although, the correct article I found, REELZ stated it was their highest rated show ever, & they are very pleased & in negotiation with the Miss Universe Organization for airing Miss universe & possibly bringing miss teen USA to its viewers.
I LOVE THIS ARTICLE,EXACTLY ONE PERSON COMMENT I SHOULD ONLY AFFECT HIMSELF NOT AN ENTIRE ORGANISATION , NEITHER A LOT OF EMPLOYEES,OR LOT OF DREAMING INNOCENT GIRLS THAT DREAM TO BE MISS UNIVERSE,I AM A GUY AND I LOVE THE MISS UNIVERSE PAGEANT SO SO MUCH,WHY SHOULD I NOT WATCH MISS UNIVERSE BECAUSE OF POLITICS COMMENTS[I DO NOT FOLLOW POLITICS],BUT THIS MISS USA THIS YEAR IS EXTREMELY FAIR,THE WINNER WON FAIR AND SQUARE AND EVEN THE TOP 15 ARE ALL DESERVING,MISS UNIVERSE PAGEANT,WAS ,IS AND WILL BE THE BEST.
i love her, but hate the pink gown!
Trash trump NEEDS to be 100% OUT of Miss USA & Miss Universe, I’m hoping Paula Shugart will bring the TRADITIONS back, to these pageants to these pageants, such as the little sisters of the universe and the respected state costumes..Good Luck to both pageants..
