Miss International delegates to promote Hokkaido anew
Sapporo, Hokkaido – Hit by a powerful earthquake that had changed the vast landscape of this northern Japanese island, the Top 5 winners and 14 other delegates of the 58th Miss International Beauty pageant will be visiting Hokkaido next week. Sponsored by the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), and endorsed by the Japanese Ministry of Economics, Trade and Industry, the beauties will be visiting the towns of Obihiro, Tokachi and Sapporo City, which is hosting the 70th Sapporo Snow Festival on the same period. Miss International 2008, Alejandra Andreu of Spain, will also join the group.
Hokkaido Earthquake Relief Efforts
The 20 beauty ambassadors, headed by the 2018 winner Mariem Velazco of Venezuela, will have the opportunity to promote Hokkaido as an alternative destination to those who plan to visit Japan in the future. They will also visit factories that produce uniquely Hokkaido-made delicacies. The highlight of the trip will be on February 7th when they will be presented to the public at the main stage of the Sapporo Snow Festival. On February 8th, they will take part in an international forum for women influencers, where Alejandra Andreu will act as a moderator.
This is the second time in just three months that Miss International will be in Hokkaido for the same purpose. Last October, 15 delegates of the 58th Miss International also visited Sapporo through the efforts of JETRO.
