She already represented Jamaica at Miss Universe 2015 but Sharlene Radlein was still stripped of her title as the organizers held a press conference on August 15 regarding the issue. Speaking at Jamaica Pegasus, organizers issued a statement claiming that they have “painstakingly sought to guide Ms Radlein in a manner which reflects the vision and ideals of the organization. However, her actions have been wholly inconsistent with the culture of the pageant, both locally and internationally.”

Sharlene Radlein had filed a lawsuit against the organizers last month. She alleged that the defendants are in breach of an agreement to award her a prize package valued at more than $2 million, and in further breach by not paying over the cash prize portion of the prize due since January.

The new Miss Universe Jamaica is set to be crowned on August 27. Last year Sharlene Radlein failed to be in the semis at Miss Universe 2015 where Pia Wurtzbach of the Philippines won the crown.
