Maria Rosado has earned the right to represent Portugal at the Miss Earth 2022 pageant after winning the title Miss Queen of Portugal 2021. Maria is 21 years of age and hails from the city of Ourem. She competed in the pageant as Miss Ribatejo. A total of 45 contestants from all over Portugal participated in the finals which was held in the town of Castro Daire located in the district of Viseu.
In the same pageant, Soraia Barbosa was hailed as the first runner-up, Ines Fernandes as 2nd runner-up while Esmeralda Moreira is the 3rd runner-up.
Portugal has competed at Miss Earth since 2004. A total of 4 Portuguese beauty queens made it to semifinals of the Miss Earth. The highest placement for Portugal was in 2018 when Telma Madeira became one of the Top 8.
Since 2020, the Miss Earth pageant was held virtually triggering some criticisms among pageant fans. With the lifting of restrictions in many country, fans are expecting that an actual pageant will be held this year.
