There is little doubt that the laser sharp focus of Pia Wurtzbach had been instrumental in achieving her victory at Miss Universe 2015. If there were any events prior to the finals, according to one contestant, Pia would come early. She was so concentrated with the task at hand that she spent little time chit-chatting with the other girls. She was very friendly but when there was an activity, her attention was on it 100%.
Such focus was not only evident during the Miss Universe competition. When Pia won the Miss Universe Philippines crown, she was criticized for her poor body form but with discipline and focus, Pia underwent a dramatic physical transformation months before the international pageant. The rather unflattering figure around her waist, hips and abdomen area were perfected through the grueling daily gym regimen. Her transformation had been the talk of beauty pageant analysts from around the world and they all praised Pia for her focus and perseverance.
Pia’s commendable self-discipline did pay off. She was relentless when it comes to things that will help her win. She confessed that she still keeps three binders full of possible Miss Universe questions with witty answers provided by her trainers. The binders were with her even during the finals night where she still kept on reviewing. No wonder she managed to breeze through the two rounds of Q&A with ease and confidence.
At 26 years of age (Miss Universe’s cut-off age is 27) and having won the Miss Universe Philippines crown after her third try, Pia Wurtzbach’s impeccable focus on her responsibilities is indeed understandable. Add the fact that she was not just competing for herself. She was, according to her, competing in behalf of her nation the Philippines. The responsibility that was put upon her shoulders was enormous.
Truly, for any pageant contestant, a complete focus on your goals sans the distractions is essential in order to achieve victory. Pia successfully demonstrated that our dreams no matter how improbable will be within our grasp so long we exercise discipline and give our 100%. Pia came to the Miss Universe pageant completely focused in winning the crown. As Perez Hilton, one of the finals night judges, quipped, “Miss Philippines came to win”.
