With its glitzy production and top notch stage setting, the Miss Supranational pageant is still at its infancy. But with the crowning of Mutya Datul, the pageant suddenly found itself the darling of Southeast Asia (add the fact that Indonesia and Thailand were also in the semis). Last March, the reigning Miss Supranational Mutya Datul passed along her national crown. Yvethe Marie Santiago, one of the top ranked delegate at Bb. Pilipinas 2014 will now carry the hopes and aspirations of the Philippines at Miss Supranational 2014. But will a back-to-back win possible?

First, a major pageant need not to shy away from back-to-back wins at the early part of its history. Miss World’s first ever and second ever winners are all Swedish. Second, the Miss Supranational franchise is now under the hands of the premier pageant in the Philippines. Expect great transformation for Yvethe and she will definitely be trained solely for the purpose of winning the crown. Third, the Miss Supranational pageant has coincidentally cemented itself as a pageant to watch by crowning a Filipina. After all, the Philippines is where, arguably, the best fans can be found.

Of course, the road to Miss Supranational is far from over. Expect other countries to send their best too. And while the back-to-back win would look quite unlikely for now, it is however not an impossibility. If it happens tough, the Philippines will indeed be making history.supra
