Sherika de Armas emerged as one of the two winners during a televised pageant held in April 26 in Sofitel Montevideo by winning the Miss Mundo Uruguay title. Sherika will try to end the 14 year drought of her country at Miss World pageant. The last time that Uruguay made the cut was in 2000 when Katja Thomsen Grien made it to the Top 5. She was famous for tackling the difficult Top 5 question of “If ignorance is bliss, why do we seek knowledge?” asked by Priyanka Chopra during the Miss World 2000 Top 5 Q&A.
Sherika hopes to replicate and even surpass the achievements of Katja for she is the known favorite of the pageant. Many pageant analysts are saying that she is a strong candidate and currently one of the contestants to watch out for in the upcoming Miss World 2015. Interestingly though, when Sherika was crowned, her crown fell off from her hair which some superstitious pageant watchers believe to be a bad omen. This, however, is not supported by reality with some pageant fans pointing out the bad design of the crown.
