Yulia Alipova, the winner of the Miss Russia 2014 contest, will no longer be competing at Miss World 2014 contest. The official Miss World website has already removed her profile in their official website. This comes as the Miss Universe 2014 schedule which is on January 2015 is a little closer to the Miss World schedule which is on December 2014.
Traditionally, although not all of the time, the Miss Russia winner would compete at both Miss Universe and Miss World contest. Elmira Abdrazakova last year competed in Bali for the Miss World 2013 contest and then later became the host delegate at Miss Universe 2013. She was unplaced in both pageants. In 2012, Elizaveta Golovanova also compete at both pageants but only in Miss Universe where she was able to be called as one of the semifinalists. With Yulia skipping the Miss World pageant means Russia is prioritizing the Miss Universe pageant where it has been more successful lately despite winning the Miss World crown for the second time in 2008.
