The only Big5 major international beauty pageant to push through this year concluded its virtual competition on November 29 with USA’s Lindsey Coffey winning the coveted Miss Earth crown, making history as the first from her country to win the title.
The 28-year-old model bested 83 other delegates for the crown previously held by Puerto Rico’s Nellys Pimentel.
Venezuela’s Stephany Zreik was named Miss Earth Air. Missosology predicted the Top 2 correctly in its Final Hot Picks.
Roxanne Allison Baeyens of the Philippines and Michala Rubinstein of Denmark settled for the Miss Earth Water and Miss Earth Fire elemental crowns, respectively.
The rest of the Top 8 were the Netherlands’ Tessa le Conge, Myanmar’s Amara Shune Lei, Puerto Rico’s Krystal Badillo, and Poland’s Sabina Połtawska.
Australia’s Brittany Dickson was won the Eco-Angel special award while Baeyens was also named Jewel Beauty Strong Earth Ambassador.
The delegates of the Netherlands, South Africa, the Philippines, and Costa Rica earned automatic spots in the Top 20 after bagging the Eco-Video awards for their respective regions. The rest of the Top 20 were the delegates from Denmark, Portugal, Germany, Poland, Kenya, Cote d’Ivoire, Nigeria, Japan, Thailand, Singapore, Myanmar, Venezuela, Panama, USA and Puerto Rico.
The Miss Earth pageant marked its 20th year with more than two-month long series of virtual pre-pageant events. “We decided not to skip this year so we can continue with our mission to raise awareness on the state of the environment,” Lorraine Schuck, Carousel Productions executive vice-president and Miss Earth co-founder said in a statement earlier this year.
