An idyllic kingdom known for its temples and laid back lifestyle will debut at Miss Universe this year. Bhutan, a nation tucked between India and China, has crowned Tashi Choden as its first ever Miss Universe contestant. Tashi is a model and hails from the town of Wangdue Phodrang.
The pageant is the third edition of Miss Bhutan with the first one held in 2008 and then in 2010. For this year’s pageant, a total of 24 contestants vied for the title. Sonam Peldon from Wangdue Phodrang is the first runner up and Eden Zangmo from Trashigang is the second runner up.
