Suchata Chuangsri, 21, who hails from Phuket, won the coveted Miss World crown during a glittering event held at HITEX Exhibition Center in the city of Hyderabad, India. Her victory marks the first time that Thailand won the Miss World crown. Finishing as first runner-up is Miss Ethiopia Hasset Dereje Admassu. Meanwhile, Miss Poland Maja Klajda is the 2nd runner-up and Miss Martinique Aurélie Joachim is the 3rd runner-up.

Making it to the Top 8 are: Miss Brazil Jéssica Pedroso, Miss Namibia Selma Kamanya, Miss Philippines Krishnah Gravidez and Miss Ukraine Maria Melnychenko. A total of 108 countries and territories participated in the pageant. The competition was marred by a controversy after Miss England Milla Magee withdrew due to ethical reasons. Miss World Organization has refuted her allegations.
