The archipelagic nation of Cape Verde will debut at the Miss International pageant this year. Stephany Amado will have the honor of being the first Cape Verdean to compete in the prestigious pageant. She is 22 years old and hails from the capital city of Praia although she represented the port city of Mindelo in the inaugural Miss Cabo Verde International pageant.
Cape Verde is a small island nation situation in the Atlantic Ocean west of Senegal. It was colonized by the Portuguese before gaining independence in 1975.
