Rashana Hydes was named Miss World Cayman Islands 2021 during the finals held May 29 at the Harquail Theatre.
The 24-year-old mental health advocate and hospitality management graduate from West Bay bested four other candidates for the title and the right to represent the Cayman Islands at the 70th Miss World in December in Puerto Rico.
Sydonie Barrett and Alyssa West placed first and second runners-up, respectively.
“It’s still a little surreal, but a few days later it’s now starting to sink in. The hours of effort, the practice, the support, the encouragement, and the grace of God made this possible,” Hydes wrote on Instagram.
Hydes bagged the lion’s share of special awards including Miss Multimedia, Miss Beauty with Purpose, Best in Gown, Miss Photogenic, Best in Interview and Miss Top Model.
