The latest photo of Miss Universe Philippines 2015 Pia Wurtzbach is splitting the opinions of the netizens. While most are all praises calling her beauty world class and some claiming that she could compete well against the Latinas, some would point out the heavy editing of the photo. In particular, the left arm of Pia was conspicuously shaved to make it appear thinner. Critics claim that Pia has to shed a few more pounds to look more appealing and that the latest photo was deliberately edited to mask her present physical shape.
Some netizens even extended the whole issue to the rivalry among the competing training camps in the Philippines. Pia was trained under the Aces and Queens (A&Q) which is also responsible for the Top 5 finish of Venus Raj, Shamcey Supsup, Janine Tugonon and Ariella Arida. In January, the rival camp, Kagandahang Flores’ trained Mary Jean Lastimosa broke the four year streak of the Philippines at the Miss Universe Top 5. Kagandahang Flores (KF) has fielded Janicel Lubina at Bb. Pilipinas this year where she was expected to win the Miss Universe Philippines title. She settled for Miss International Philippines crown instead.
Supporter of Pia claim that the KF fans may be pulling down Pia, hence the heavy editing of the photo issue. But critics claim that they are giving an objective opinion and that Pia may not be the best option of the Philippines for Miss Universe after all. Nevertheless, when the Miss Universe season comes up, Pia will enjoy the support of fans whether they are for A&Q or KF. But the critics are vocal about her body shape as it is for them a real issue that should be taken seriously.
