The Philippine Postal Corporation has announced that it will issue postage stamps honoring Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach. Stamps are usually issued in honors of the people with exemplary achievements like scientists, inventors, heroes and the like. In the Philippines however, Miss Universe is a big thing such that whoever wins the crown for the country is forever etched in the history books.
The Philippine Postal Corporation has already issued stamps honoring Miss Universe 1969 Gloria Diaz and Miss Universe 1973 Margarita Moran. In 2014, stamps honoring Miss World 2013 Megan Young was also issued.
It is not just the Philippines though. Last year, Colombia issued stamps honoring Miss World 2014 Paulina Vega. The late Luz Marina Zuluaga who won in 1958 was also commemorated through postage stamps.
