Top favorite Karan Singhdole from the Philippines won the Man of the Year 2016 title during the finals held August 20 in Pekanbaru, Riau in Indonesia.

The 23-year-old model from Santa Rosa, Laguna bested 10 other contestants to become the pageant’s first winner. Singhdole is pure Indian by blood, but was born and raised in the Philippines. He will now serve as an ambassador for Man of the Year’s advocacy on wildlife conservation.

“Salamat sa inyong lahat! Salamat sa suporta at pagmamahal,” said an emotional Singhdole in a video posted on Missosology Male Pageants Section page after the pageant.

Tarek Moaykel of Lebanon finished first runner-up while Netherlands’ Tim Bertrams placed second runner-up. Vietnam’s Trịnh Xuân Nhản and host delegate Meirizal Rifa’i of Indonesia were third and fourth runners-up, respectively.

Prime Event Productions Philippines Inc (PEPPS) is now preparing for Singhdole’s homecoming, which coincides with Misters of Filipinas’ 2016 edition. PEPPS is the group behind Neil Perez, Mister International 2014.

“I hope that with our country’ win in Man of the Year, Karan will serve as an inspiration to our new set of candidates,” PEPPS president Carlo Morris Galang said in a statement. Missosology.Org
