Spain boasts one Miss World crown thanks to the surprising performance of Mireia Lalaguna at Miss World 2015. Other notable Spanish beauty at Miss World includes, Carmen Cervera (2nd runner up in 1961), Gloria Valenciano (4th runner-up in 1978), and Elena Ibarbia (Top 6 in 2013).

Currently, Spain is ranked 8th at the Big5 Ranking and the country has been pretty consistent in that rank since 2017. In the early decades of pageantry, it is considered as a powerhouse but it largely underperformed in the 1980s and 1990s. Recently, it has bounced back particularly especially when Lorena Bernal became one of the Top 10 in 1999.
