All the rumors swirling has now been put to rest by no less than the Tourism chief of the Philippines, Wanda Teo. She just announced that Miss Universe 2017 will not be happening in the Philippines during the International Conference on Sustainable Tourism for Development. Earlier, it was reported that the Philippines is offering the host the pageant this November. READ http://missosology.org/featured/42733-miss-universe-2017-pageant-philippines/
Teo added that the hosting might materialize next year. The country welcomed the Miss Universe pageant in 1974 (the first to be held in Asia), 1994 and earlier this year when France’s Iris Mittenaere won the crown.
If no other country will come forward to bid the hosting of Miss Universe, it is more likely that it will be held again in Las Vegas. Known as the “Sin City” or the “Gambling Capital of the World”, this Nevadan entertainment hub is considered as the default home town of Miss Universe.
The Miss Universe Organization has not issued any statement regarding the matter and is yet to announce this year’s host city – if a pageant will indeed be held this year. Miss Universe has “skipped” the years 2014 and 2016, opting to hold the pageant on January the following year.
