Nompumelelo Maduna was crowned Miss Earth South Africa 2021 in a special ceremony held September 1 at Thaba Eco Hotel in Johannesburg.

The 26-year-old model and marketing graduate will represent the African nation at the 2021 Miss Earth pageant. She succeeded 2020 winner Lungo Katete.

“Wow I am so overwhelmed with joy and truly honoured to be Miss Earth SA 2021. This means continuing my efforts in contributing to sustainable change in our country. My pledge as the new #MissEarthSouthAfrica 2021 is to plant trees, support the #WasteStopsWithME campaign and to educate young people about their role in the environment,” Maduna said.

Nompumelelo holds a B Tech Marketing Management from the University of Johannesburg. She was first runner-up in Miss Earth South Africa 2018, and was a Top 5 finalist in Miss South Africa 2019. She founded Mpumes Pageant Workshop, a pageant coaching team.
