Nguyen Thi Ngoc Chau, a 28 year-old model from Tay Ninh, emerged victorious from a field of 41 contestants. The pageant was held Saturday night, June 26, at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center in Ho Chi Minh City. Le Thao Nhi was hailed at the first runner-up while Huynh Pham Thuy Tien is the second runner-up. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Chau will represent Vietnam at the Miss Universe 2022 pageant and she is not a stranger in international beauty competition. She represented Vietnam at the Miss Supranational 2019 where she finished as one of the Top 10 and earning title of Miss Supranational Asia.
The Miss Universe Vietnam pageant started in 2008 and it was the same year when Vietnam hosted Miss Universe. It is now one of the most anticipated national pageants in the world having demonstrated its ability to send top class candidates. The golden moment for the Miss Universe Vietnam organization was in 2018 when H’Hen Nie was named as one of the Top 5 at the Miss Universe contest held in Bangkok.
This year’s pageant special guests include the reigning Miss Universe Harnaaz Sandhu of India, Miss Universe 2005 Natalie Glebova of Canada and Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray of the Philippines. History was also made when Do Nhat Ha became the first transgender to compete in the pageant.
