Monica Khonado from Sulawesi Utara was named Miss Earth Indonesia 2020-21 in a virtual finals held November 21.
The 25-year-old news presenter from Manado bested 24 other candidates for the crown and the right to represent the Southeast Asian naton in the next edition of the Miss Earth pageant.
“It’s really a surprising moment to be crowned as Miss Earth Indonesia 2020. I will do my best with this new responsibility I carried, for the people, and of course for the Earth. The Earth is not only a destination, but it’s our home! Yours and mine,” she posted on Instagram.
Her court included Saira Saima (Miss Earth Indonesia Air), Inez Amelia (Miss Earth Indonesia Water), Vidya Paramita (Miss Earth Indonesia Fire), and Natasha Namoru (Miss Earth Indonesia Eco-Tourism).
