Nuriyyih Gerrard was crowned Miss World Guyana 2016 at a brief coronation event held at the Parc Rayne on Friday, May 27.
The regional ambassador of region eight defeated 9 other candidates for the chance to compete in Miss World 2016. She won Best in Talent.
Treasure James finished first runner-up and bagged the Best in Evening Gown award while Najuma Nelson placed second runner-up and won Best Interview.
Top favorite Divya Yabindranauth won the Mutlimedia, Photogenic and People’s Choice awards. Beauty With A Purpose winner was Marva Langevine, while Ariella Basdeo was named Sports and Fitness winner. Ashmini Ramnauth won Top Model award.
Guyana has enjoyed a two-year consecutive placement streak in Miss World. Rafieya Husain made it to the Top 11 in 2014 and was co-winner of Beauty with a Purpose. Lisa Punch also made it to the Top 11 in 2015 and managed to win the Talent challenge. Missosology.Org
