Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump tweeted a few minutes ago that he purchased the full ownership of the Miss Universe pageant from the American TV network NBC. Trump and NBC co-owns the Miss Universe pageant. This development came after a swirl of rumors and gossips about the future of the pageant. A few days ago, there were reports that IMG Models is set to purchase Miss Universe and there are suggestions that the legendary pageant coach Ines Ligron, who at one time was IMG Models Asia Pacific head, will sit in as the president.
With the tweet of Donald Trump comes in so many possibilities. Will he retain the ownership of Miss Universe and Miss USA despite being busy with his presidential campaign and all the uproar and boycott that these pageants suffered because of his insensitive comments? Or will this be a first step before he sells the pageants to other owners now that he doesn’t have to deal with NBC anymore? Whatever the case may be, all of these rumors and news puts Miss Universe in limbo and puts a huge question mark over the future of the pageant.
