Samantha Leyva from Acapulco, the first runner-up in Miss World Mexico 2016 pageant, has been chosen as Mexico’s representative to Miss Supranational 2017 pageant.
Leyva, a 24-year-old nurse and professional folklore dancer, will travel to Poland for the Miss Supranational finals in December. She succeeds Cynthia de la Vega, who finished in the Top 25 of last year’s pageant.

She is the first Afro-Mexican to represent the country in any international pageant. No stranger to pageants, she won the Miss Guerrero local title last year.
“Contestants in the beauty contest must also submit a proposal for a social program. I am proud of my Afromexican roots, and I feel that I have a responsibility to my community,” Leyva was quoted in an Oct 2016 article by ImagineMexico.com. Missosology.Org
