The Miss Supranational organization is set to ban unvaccinated contestants for its 2022 pageant. The measure is meant to protect the candidates from possible COVID-19 outbreak. Last year, the Miss World 2021 pageant was cancelled at last minute because several contestants and staff of the organization were tested of positive of COVID-19.

The reigning Miss Supranational queen, Chanique Rabe of Namibia, will crown her successor in July. The pageant will be held in Poland. A month ago, Miss Supranational said it is banning Russia from its pageants. So far, it is the only Big5 pageant that publicly banned Russia due to its invasion of Ukraine.

As of the press time, an estimated 66.7% of the world’s population has received at least a single dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Majority of the unvaccinated are in the continent of Africa. There are many reasons why people refuse to get vaccinated including religious, medical and conspiracy theory reasons.

Missosology has sought the comment of Miss Supranational but no response has been received as of the moment.
