Delegates of the 2016 Miss International Beauty Pageant dressed to impress at their first major event held at the Tokyo Dome Hotel.  Miss International Organization president and International Cultural Association chairperson, Akemi Shimomura, who is also the owner of the Miss Paris Group of Companies graced tonight’s VIP Party and Reception together with this year’s major sponsor, Panasonic Beauty.

Looking absolutely radiant in their well-chosen evening gowns, all the contestants were also honored as Tourism Ambassadors of Japan, with Miss Vietnam receiving the certificates in behalf of all the delegates. Akihiko Tamura, the current commissioner of the Japan Tourism Agency also made a brief speech to welcome all the delegates and specifically mentioned about the effort of Japan to change its image as a country that is “too far away and too expensive to visit.”

This year’s Miss International pageant aims to promote several of Japan’s less visited places with the use of technology and social media influences.  / Stephen I. Diaz
