She may be the last to arrive in the Philippines but Miss Earth Thailand 2013 Punika “Polly” Kunsuntornrat is already earning rave reviews. When she was crowned last week, a lot of pageant experts believe she could be the best performing Thai beauty at the Big4 Pageants. Indeed Polly could be that bright light in the glommy horizon. After last year’s disappointing exclusion of Waratthaya Wongchayaporn, Thailand is now gearing up for its first Miss Earth crown with a new franchise holder and a brand new national pageant.

Polly is also genuinely concern not only of the environment but on what is happening to the host country of Miss Earth 2013. In particular, she wants to raise some money to help the victims of Typhoon Haiyan in the central Philippines. On her departure from Bangkok, she even organized a small and humble booth at the airport asking passers-by to give any amount for the victims of the typhoon.

Even before she set afoot in the Philippines, there is already a very optimistic outlook on chances of Polly. Will she be finally Thailand’s first ever Miss Earth winner?
