Lizzy Dobbe has been named the new Miss World Netherlands 2021 and will head on to represent the nation at the 70th Miss World contest to be held in December in Puerto Rico.

This, after erstwhile titleholder Dilay Willemstein refused the Covid-19 vaccination that was required to travel to the competition. “I am not ready for it. It would not feel right. I don’t know if I will ever take it,” Willemstein said, adding that she didn’t know about the vaccine mandate when she competed in the Miss World Netherlands pageant.

The Miss World Netherlands organization decided to send Dobbe, 21, who finished first runner-up to Willemstein at the Miss World Netherlands contest last July.

“I am officially crowned as Miss World Netherlands. It is an honor to represent the Netherlands in Puerto Rico. Thank you so much for all the sweet messages,” Dobbe posted on Instagram.

The Netherlands bagged the Miss World crown in 1959 and 1962. The country currently ranks 21st in Missosology Big 5 Ranking. Missosology.Org; Photos from Miss World Netherlands
