Kenya returns at Miss International
Is this the sign of a thawing relationship between Miss International and African countries? Long accused of being racist, Miss International has ignored a bevy of African beauties that graced its pageant. In turn, African organizations would usually snub and skip the pageant.
There is no doubt that there was mutual distrust. No African woman has ever won the Miss International crown. Meanwhile, Africa is not that keen to send its best contestants fearing that they will simply be wasted.
That is why the crowning of Eunice Onyango heralds a new beginning for the continent and the pageant. Eunice, a 21 year old model from Nairobi, will represent Kenya at Miss International 2015 contest. She was crowned in a pageant held on August 8 at Hotel Pride Inn Westlands.
Eunice’s participation at Miss International marks the comeback of Kenya at the pageant where it last competed in 2010.
