Ethiopian-born Kedist Deltour was crowned Miss Belgium 2021 during the finals held March 31 at the Proximus Theatre in Adinkerke without audience due to the Covid-19 restrictions.

The 23-year-old hairdresser from Nazareth, East Flanders bested 32 other candidates for the title previously held by Céline Van Ouytsel.

Thanareee Scheerlinck placed first runner-up while Louise-Marie Losfeld was second runner-up. The rest of the Top 6 were Elodie Gualano, Cassandra Tordeur, and Camilia Martinez.

Born in Addis Ababa in Ethiopia, Deltour lost her mother to cancer when she was eight years old. At 10 years old, she was adopted by a Belgian couple and moved from Ethiopia to Belgium together with her little brother and sister.

The winners of Miss Belgium traditionally competes in Miss World and/or Miss Universe. The organization has yet to make an announcement on Deltour’s international pageant assignment.
