Her victory marks the first time that a married woman – and a mother – will represent Puerto Rico at Miss Universe
Jennifer Colón, 36, won the the Miss Universe Puerto Rico crown at the conclusion of a glittering finals night held at Luis A. Ferré Performing Arts Center in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She is cosmetic surgeon, iridologist and a veteran beauty queen. This is her second try at Miss Universe Puerto Rico as back in 2008 she finished as first runner-up to Mayra Matos. Jennifer Colón also represented Puerto Rico at Miss World 2009 where she unplaced.
A total of 28 contestants vied for this year’s Miss Universe Puerto Rico title. Orlanis Rivera was named as first runner-up while Carolina Gómez is the second runner-up. Completing the Top 5 are Ivana Carolina Irizarry (3rd runner-up) and Stephanie Soto (4th runner-up).
This year’s Miss Universe pageant will be held in Mexico. Jennifer Colón hopes to become the 6th Puerto Rican beauty queen the Miss Universe title.
