Janick Maceta was crowned the new Miss Peru in a special ceremony held November 29, earning her the right to compete in the next edition of the Miss Universe competition.

“My heart couldn’t be happier. I have dreamed of this moment for so many years. Thank you all, ” the 26-year-old model said after receiving the crown from last year’s winner Kelin Rivera.

Maricielo Gamarra and Solange Hermoza completed the Top 3.

No stranger to pageants, Maceta was first runner-up in last year’s Miss Peru contest. She competed in Miss Supranational 2019 in Poland and placed third runner-up. She also represented Peru in Miss Tourism World 2017-18 in Malaysia where she placed first runner-up.

Maceta works as a sound assistant in New York where she has participated in various musical and television productions, including the West Side Story. In Peru, she is part of a non-profit organization named Little Heroes Perú that helps children who have been victims of sexual violence.

Peru won the Miss Universe crown in 1957 with Gladys Zender. The country currently ranks 29th in Missosology Big5 Ranking. Missosology.Org
