Ivonne Cerdas finally won the Miss Costa Rica crown on her third try, during the 2020 finals held November 18 at Estudio Marco Picado in San Jose.

The 27-year-old systems engineer from Hatillo bested nine other finalists for the title and the right to represent the Central American nation in the next edition of the Miss Universe competition. She received the crown from outgoing queen Paola Chacón Fuentes.

Valeria Rees and Priscilla Barrantes were first and second runners-up, respectively.

No stranger to pageants, Cerdas first joined Miss Costa Rica in 2012 and placed first runner-up. She returned in 2015 but finished second runner-up.

Unlike the previous years, this year’s Miss Costa Rica pageant was held without an audience due to the limitations brought by the Covid-19 pandemic. The candidates, hosts and judges wore masks throughout the contest.
