Thanks to the organizers of Puteri Indonesia, whoever is the reigning Miss Universe gets a chance to crown the new national winner plus the honor of sashaying onstage wearing the elegant Indonesian national costume.
Long reserved for the royal courts of the Majpahit era, the kebaya became the symbol of elegance, opulence and sheer artistry.
