Forty stunning women from across the Philippines gathered at the Novotel Manila Araneta Center for the press presentation. For the first time, the candidates of Bb. Pilipinas wore a sash to show which region, province or city they are representing. The tradition had always been a pinned number but this is the smallest of the changes that was announced.
Miss Universe Organization announced that Miss Universe Philippines would be a separate entity from Bb. Pilipinas. The official announcement of Miss Universe stated that in its effort to “build and evolve the Miss Universe brand in the Philippines, the Miss Universe Organization is enhancing Binibining Pilipinas while helping grow it into a dynamic, multi-faceted platform. Working with the Araneta Group, IMG, and the new Miss Universe Philippines will take Binibining Pilipinas to exciting new levels, engaging and entertaining fans like never before.”
Jonas Gaffud who earlier resigned from training camp Aces and Queen was designated as Creative and Events Director for the Miss Universe Philippines Brand under IMG Universe.
A Grand Parade of Beauties at the Araneta Center will be held in May 25 and the Fashion Show will be on May 29. The finals night will be on June 9 and will be beamed live by ABS-CBN.
