Emerald Nyein was crowned Miss Myanmar International 2015 during the finals held August 30 at the National Theater in Yangon.
She bested 19 other candidates for the chance to represent the country in the Miss Universe pageant to be held later this year. She is 22 years old and holds a BA English degree from the University of Distance Education.
Thadar Mariah finished 1st runner-up while Hkawng Nan placed 2nd runner-up.
In 2012, Myanmar competed in Miss International for the first time since 1962. Nang Khin Zay Yar failed to place in the Top 15 but won the Miss Internet special award. It is yet to win the crown.
