Representing the municipality of Toa Baja, Elena Rivera was crowned as the new Miss World Puerto Rico. The pageant was held at the Centro de Bellas Artes in the central city of Caguas. A total of 30 candidates representing various municipalities and cities across Puerto Rico competed in the event. The colorful and festive ceremony was hosted by comedian Danilo Beauchamp and Miss World Puerto Rico 2014 Génesis Dávila. Hailed as first runner-up is Andrea Carolina while the second runner-up is Amanda Pérez Solís.
Elena Rivera is 18 years of age and stands 5’8″. She is a marketing student and will soon compete at the 71st Miss World pageant. The Miss Mundo Puerto Rico competition follows an identical format with that of Miss World. Several events including sports, talent and Top Model were held prior the finals night. Ranked 14th at the Big5 Ranking, Puerto Rico boasts two Miss World winners. The first Puerto Rican to win the coveted crown is Wilnelia Merced Cruz who was crowned in 1975. Stephanie Del Valle brought back the crown to the Enchanted Island in 2016.
