Daniella Rodríguez Laureano, representing Bayamón, was crowned Miss Mundo Puerto Rico 2019 during a special ceremony held August 29.

The 21-year-old marketing student will represent the island at the 2019 Miss World contest in December in London. She received the crown from outgoing queen Dayanara Martínez.

“I did not expect it, I am really grateful to all the people who supported me from the beginning, who believed in me, when I had no experience in beauty pageants; they saw that potential in me, really, thank you,” Rodríguez was quoted by El Nuevo Dia.

Rodríguez was born and raised in Puerto Rico but currently resides in the US with her parents. She studies at West Chester University.

The crowning was made in a simple 17-minute ceremony through Facebook Live from the ABC Puerto Rico channel.

Karimar Quiñones Algarín (Carolina) placed first runner-up, while Mariangie Alicea Figueroa (Juana Díaz) finished second runner-up. Maritery Carrión Portela (Caguas), Yashira Marrero Vázquez (Cayey) and Nicole Paredes Rivera (Humacao) completed the Top 6.
