Thabiso Phiri, the original winner of the Miss Zimbabwe 2014 had to relinquish her crown earlier this week. In a news that had the social media in Zimbabwe talking, Thabiso allegedly revealed to the Miss Zimbabwe organization that she is resigning for personal reasons. No specifics were given but the social media are all over a series of nude photos which is allegedly that of Thabiso. The photos however were censored thereby the identity of the girl who posed provocatively can’t be ascertained.
The resignation of Thabiso prompted the organization to hold an unplanned pageant yesterday on August 5. Catherine Makaya, a 19 year old beauty who was an orphan, will now represent Zimababwe at Miss World 2014 pageant which to be held in London this December. Many pageant observers thought the the first runner-up will take over but that was not the case as a new mini pageant was held with three contestants competing. The first and second runners-up, Letwin Chinomona and Tendai Hunda were in attendance but did not compete.
