在选美世界中，中国或许还是一个新国家，但在短短的日子里它已经得到很多的头条新闻。因为作为选美世界里的一个新国家，根本没有其它国家可以在短时间内两夺世界小姐后冠。
中国绝对可为张梓琳和于文霞以自豪。2007年世界小姐冠军张梓琳，当选后她被誉为有史以来质素最佳的世界小姐。她甜美的样子和一颗美丽的心，轻易为她赢得许多人的芳心。而2012年世界小姐冠军于文霞，则被认为是最努力到世界各地参与慈善工作的选美皇后。
尽管曾赢得两次世界小姐冠军，中国却还未得过环球小姐宝座。2002年的卓灵，是第一位参加环球小姐的中国代表，最后她获得季军，是中国暂时的最佳成绩。

2011年，罗紫琳获得环球小姐第五名。该年的赛事在巴西的圣保罗举行，罗紫琳还赢得该国人民的欢心。有趣的是，罗紫琳和卓灵两者都是来自上海，可能上海女孩是中国最好的罢。
