After a “gruelling” selection process, Brittany Dickson was chosen as the new Miss Earth Australia, the organization announced on August 21 on its social media pages.

The animal bioscientist and brain cancer survivor and ambassador will represent the Land Down Under in the next edition of the Miss Earth pageant.

“I don’t want the crown for the glory, I want the crown to raise my voice to reach as many people as possible in the pursuit of a greener Earth,” Dickson wrote on her Instagram page on August 12.

Dickson competed in Miss Earth Australia (MEA) last year and was crowned Miss Charity Australia. She also joined the national contest in 2017 and was named Miss Air Australia.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the MEA organization decided to choose the new Miss Earth Australia from its 2019 elemental queens. The other ladies who competed for the 2020 crown were Sheridan Mortloc (Miss Air Australia 2019) and Karyn Xie (Miss Water Australia 2019). The ladies underwent a series of interviews with the board of judges, the Miss Earth Australia team, and international pageant bloggers.
