Bria Smith was crowned Miss British Virgin Islands 2019 during the finals held August 4 at the Multipurpose Sports Complex in Road Town.

The 25-year-old government information officer from Sea Cows Bay bested four other candidates for the right to represent the British overseas territory in the Caribbean at the 2019 Miss Universe pageant.

Shabree Frettm finished first runner-up. Shamoia Maduro was second runner-up.

Smith also bagged the Best Costume, Best BVI Promotion, Best Interview, Miss Intellect, and Best Poise special awards. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Media & Communications Studies and a minor in History from the University of Maryland. She is now pursuing a joint Masters of Arts degree in Global Strategic Communication and Creative Writing.
