Prevailing in the field of five beauties seems to be an easy task but it’s not. The conclusion of Miss Cayman Islands pageant last Saturday night proved that it is quite difficult to compete in a pageant where there are only a handful of contestants. Each of the beauties were subjected to rigorous judging and questions before and during the finals ranged from personal to political.
In the end, an aspiring singer named Anika Conolly took the coveted crown. Anika has a bachelor’s degree with a specialization in globalization, and a certificate in human resources. She impressed the judges during the final question pertaining to the upcoming elections in this small British Overseas Territory known for its prestine beaches and a behemoth offshore banking industry.
With her victory, Anika will work as an ambassador for the Ministry of Tourism as well as representing the islands at either Miss Universe or Miss World pageant. She also won KY$70, 000 (US$8, 500) worth of scholarship.
