Pink once again reigned supreme at Miss World and based on the results of the 2024 pageant, it is indeed the winningest color. The trend started back in 2011 when Ivian Sarcos was crowned as the winner while wearing her barbie-inspired gown designed by Gionni Straccia. Since then, pink became the favorite color of Miss World. A staggering 67% of the winners since 2011 donned a pink gown during their crowning.
Interestingly, pink represents love and compassion and it somehow reflects the credo of Miss World. It softens the aura of the candidate enhancing a woman’s sweet personality which beauty analysts say a prerequisite in winning the crown. This is not to say that wearing a pink gown is the key to victory. Prior to 2011, there were few winners who had pink gowns – Jacqueline Aguilera (1995), Priyanka Chopra (2000) and Rosanna Davison (2003). And like any other color, pink has so many variations. For example, the color of Rolene Strauss’ gown designed by Casper Bosman is best described as blush while the color of Megan Young’s Leo Almodal gown was actually coral. Even Krystyna Pyszková’s gown can be best described pale salmon in color heavily adorned with silver appliqué and metallic sequins.

We should also consider the colors of several iconic gowns at the pageant. Blue for example, is highly recommended as it matches the sapphire/turquoise Miss World crown. Yu Wenxia (2012), Mireia Lalaguna (2015) and Karolina Bielawska (2022) all demonstrated the power of blue-hued gowns.
Furthermore, it is important to understand the selection process at Miss World before we can conclude that the color of the gown has any impact at all. The finals night, according to beauty analysts, has little bearing on the results and that the winner was already selected days prior. If so, why bother what kind gown to wear at the finals night?
Whether these are all mere coincidences or a trend to consider, using pink-colored gowns at Miss World is still highly recommended. However, the contestant must be confident and comfortable on what she is wearing. It should enhance – not overwhelm – the beauty contestant whatever color it may be.
