Amelia Tu has been crowned as Miss Universe Canada 2022 in a pageant held at the Meridian Arts Centre in Toronto on May 14. The 5’7″ beauty was born in Montreal and she speaks English, French and Chinese. She will represent Canada at the Miss Universe 2022 pageant later this year.
Amelia Tu is 20 years of age and has listed dancing, singing and traveling as her hobbies. She is also a passionate environmental advocate. She is currently pursuing a degree in biology and business at the University of California, Berkeley.
There were 54 Canadian beauty who vied for the crown. Madison Kvaltin of Ontario was hailed as the first runner-up while Yuliya Shcherban of Saskatchewan is the 2nd runner-up. Completing the Top 5 are Sophie Church of Nova Scotia (3rd runner-up) and Oceanne Gemme-Rose of Quebec (4th runner-up).
Canada is proud to have two Miss Universe titleholders. Karen Baldwin is the first ever Canadian Miss Universe who won the prestigious title in 1982. Natalie Glebova meanwhile, is the second titleholder from Canada after winning the crown in 2005. The country is currently ranked 23rd at the Big5 Ranking.
