Miss Denmark 2017 Amanda Petri has been appointed as the new Miss Universe Denmark, the organization announced on March 14.
The 24-year-old pageant veteran, who previously competed in Miss World 2017, will represent Denmark at the 69th Miss Universe competition in May in Florida, USA. She succeeded 2019 winner Katja Stokholm.
“Representing Denmark at Miss Universe 2020 in Florida is beyond surreal. I strive to become the role model that 10 years old me would have listened to and learned from and I, therefore, promise you to use the platform provided to me wisely,” Petri posted on Instagram.
Due to the lockdown in Denmark since March 11, restrictions and the gathering limitations, the Miss Denmark Organization was not able to host a finals event in Denmark and has decided to appointed a former winner to represent the country at 69th Miss Universe.
For the past five years, Petri has been involved with the Miss Denmark Organization where she has had a role as a mentor, casting assistant, PR assistant and also a member of the judging panel during the Miss Universe Denmark Final 2019.
