The Miss International Organization’s social media accounts has announced that Miss Taiwan 2023 Oceana Ling-Kurie will represent Taiwan at the Miss International 2024 pageant. It will be the 62nd edition of the pageant and it will be held in Tokyo, Japan with the finals slated on November 12. Oceana Ling-Kurie is 23 years old and she works as an actress, model, educator and business consultant.
Officially known as Republic of China, Taiwan has recently been more assertive in using its common name much to the consternation of the People’s Republic of China which claims the island as its renegade province. Miss International is so far the only Big5 Pageant that allows Taiwanese beauty queens to participate while wearing a Taiwan sash. Several Big5 Pageants such as Miss Universe and Miss Earth were mired in controversies after requiring Taiwanese beauty queens to wear a Miss Chinese Taipei sash. READ – What’s with the Taiwan sash?
